We’re going to let you in on a little secret that you may not have been aware of. If you’ve ever looked at celebrity’s teeth and have wondered how they have such a perfect smile, most likely, they were not born with it. Many celebrities nowadays opt for dental veneers that are able to enhance the look of their teeth and overall smile.
Dental veneers are extremely thin shells that you can have applied to the front of your teeth, or a set of teeth in order to hide different blemishes associated with unsightly dental conditions such as crowding, discoloration, and misshapen teeth.
There are two different types of dental veneers that both offer their own different set of advantages. Porcelain and composite resin are the two main materials used in association with the construction of dental veneers.
With either material, the veneer process begins by removing a thin layer of the enamel from your teeth. A mold will then be used to custom-design the veneers in order to perfectly match the shape of your mouth. Next, you’ll leave the office with temporary veneers until your permanent ones are ready. Keep in mind that you will work with your cosmetic dentist in order to find the right shape and color shade of dental veneers that best suits the rest of your teeth. Finally, in a second visit to our office, the temporary veneers are replaced with a permanent, each one being cemented into place.
In the case that you tend to be someone that grinds or clenches their teeth at night while they sleep or during the day, you wouldn’t naturally be an appropriate candidate for veneers. Veneers may also not be the best solution for those that have an overly misaligned smile in which case prior treatments may be needed before veneers can be taken into consideration.
